I'm interested in finding out exactly what it would be like to be a bail bondsman. How do they come up with the credit line to cover the bonds they place. I realize the family (or whoever) puts up the 10% but what if the "perp" jumps bail? Where does the bail bondsman come up with the extra money? Is this a line of credit they must be able to have in order to start a business?

I only want to buy one handgun after college and when I become a Bounty Hunter for the State of Nevada, for protection ONLY, not as a weapon but a shield. The Law says that I have to wait to buy a gun for 5 year after I've come out of a Mental Institution. I was there twice for just medication reasons. I was 13 & 17 at those times. I've been off of my meds for 2 months now and things are better for me. I will be 21 when I get out of college with my criminal justice degree and when I become a Bounty Hunter. That will be 4 years by now. Will the ones in charge of the Gun Laws, the bail bondsman I talk to in Nevada or the psychist from the bounty hunting hiring process let or help me buy that gun a year early. Is there something that can do here?

NOTE: I have no criminal record nor have I been to court before in my life. My parents were the ones who Instituted me, nobody else.

!!!PLUS!!! my guidance counselor told me that those events and the rest of my juvenile record are seal and expunged, that they don't count. Can that be true?

Want to open a bail bond practice in Texas. What classes am i required to take by the State of Texas. After I get my bail bonds license what are the requirements by the state of Texas to open a business?

I am going to a local community college to get an Associates Degree, but while I am doing that - I want to learn on how to become a Bail Recovery Agent (Bounty Hunter). I was thinking of calling one of the local Bail Bonds Office to talk to a Bail Bondsman and ask them question, maybe in person and just keep in touch with them to learn new things.

Would that be a good idea? And do they have any jobs for 17-18 year olds around the office?
You have to be 18 in California, where I live.*

I have heard that you have to be a bail bondsman first or something. I'd kinda like to go into this profession because I'm really crazy and I used to be somewhat accustomed to the criminal world (although not anymore). I have been straight for years now and I find myself wanting to make the world a better place by getting rid of scum bags like DAWG the Bounty Hunter.

I am interested in becoming a bail bondsmen in Columbus Ohio. I am looking to obtain information on the requirements to becoming a bails bondsmen? Also do I need good credit to become a bondsmen so that I can get loans from the bank? Please email me back and let me know all I need to know about starting my new career. Thanks so much : )

I live in the state of Florida, however just enlisted in the military so I might be moving later on. I was interested on how bounty hunting exactly works (Obviously I know what they do, and they get work from a bail bondsman) however is it real easy to get work from a bail bondsman? do you just walk in like any other job to get work, or what?
For the state of Florida, it says you can only call yourself a surety agent or something and can't refer to yourself as a bounty hunter, bail enforcemnt agent, etc. and you need to register with the state, and others. As I might be in another state while I do this work, I would like to do it as a second job after my military career. I'm just wondering how I would go about getting licensed, registered, and getting the work? Do they give work just to anyone who wants to become a "bounty hunter" after their licensed or what?

sorry If I'm spelling bad or something, Im trying to do like 3 things at once. Thank you!!

What would i need to do to become a bail bondsmen or a bounty hunter?

i live in louisiana and i want to become a bail bondsmans..i need any info u may have like web site,#'s thanks

What all do you need to start your own bond business? Where do you get the money from to bond someone out of jail? Can you run your business out of your home until you get bigger? How much money can you make doing this kind of work? Please only answer this if you have good solid information and give me as many answers and info as possible!

My husband and I are looking into the bail bondsman and bail enforcement careers. I understand the amount of hours for training and the insurance license. What is unclear is how much money is needed for the build up fund? Any answers? Thanks!

What training, testing, and financial requirements are required to become a bail bondsman in Maryland.

Well I am becoming a Bail Bondsman I already applied for a license. Sometimes though it can take up to 6 months to get it. I could get a job but I hate to just work for someone and then quit you know like 3 months later? Besides they might not like that. Once I get the license I will be FULLY focused on that as a sub agent the man directing me will be fully guiding me on what to do and giving me bonds to write for money. I was trying to think of some self employment things to do but I can't think of anything good it's annoying. What would be something that would make enough and get me by till I get the license ugh???

I'm interested in becoming a private investigator in the State of North Carolina, but I recently got a misdemeanor conviction for simple assault on my record. Is it still possible to obtain a license? I was a police officer for 5 years and a probation officer for 5 before that. I landed myself in a bad situation and ended up with this misdemeanor on my record.

If I can't get a private investigator license, what about a bail bondsman, or am I even eligible to become a paramedic or EMT? what about a fireman?

I've never been in trouble before and prior to this one time incident which was a huge misunderstanding, I've had a perfect work record. Never been late, written up or anything. Always a model employee. I have my B.S. degree and am about to finish up my Masters degree.

I'm scared that this one stupid night has ruined my career forever. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My boyfriend (soon to be husband) and I want to open a bail bondsman business does anyone know how we should go about it?? Give us some advice on what we can do to get this started?

I have hopes of becoming a U.S. District Court probation or pretrial officer. I have a B.S. in Psychology, a total of eight years working at one of the largest mental health hospitals in the U.S., and a five years of expereince working as a professional bails bondsman. I am searching for insight into the training and what to expect. Is my bail agent expereince even considered releavent? Will my work in the mental health industry, which also included work with many who were polysubstance abusers qualify me to get more than the minimum that's offered? Even though I desire to be a federal officer, I will consider a position working for a local, county, or state probation office. Does anyone know of an opening anywhere in the Deep south where the cost of living is relatively low and it does not snows? I am askingthat only current or former probation officers reply!

Well I have a very messed up life so please help me and try to understand this I really appreciate the good people who would just like to give me good advice by the way I am 20 years old this is long sooo please. Okay my dad has always been somewhat abusive especially mentally. Like anyway this is embarrassing for me so please nobody say anything mean. Anyway I went to college (grant and paid for FREE FOR ME) for a while for free but for some reason becasue of my treatment at home I feel and stuff I decided it wasn't worth it and quit (flunked out) I just didn't do any work there anymore. I don't know if that was the right thing too do or not. So then I decided to start doing my own thing instead of working for someone else like I had in the past well I started to buy things at a discount and like sell them for more like on EBAY. IT WORKED OK!!! Now this year I think becsaue of the economy I can't do this so well it isn't working. My dad has ALWAYS had a crazy way or making money with like publications and stuff that half work and then when they don't he PUTS THE BLAME ON ME. He always has done that since I was young he puts blames on me. Yesterday he got so mad at me he said clean your car or I will bash your windshield on your car in. I told him that's illegal and then he said he would bash my face in then instead. After a minute after that he said fine I won't do that I'll just throw you out of the house. Anyway right now I am in no position to be on the street becasue I have no money. I did however register for and pass the test and so on for a surety license becsaue I want to
become a bail bondsman. I think there is good money in that but I am not due to get my license for 2 months and it will take time to build money with that. I also was thinking of creating a web site and getting google adsense. Anyway I don't know what to do becsaue getting a job will be hard and trying to sell bail bonds at the same time. Am I normal to think that my dad is mean? Do you think what he said was right? HE has said and done many other things to me that I think are mean, but I have been around it so long I can't tell if it's normal to talk to your family like that or not. Sometimes when I was a kid he would insult me and tell me what a loser I am and how I don't know how to do anything. My mom doesn't like him either she says he is abusive. He has said many VIOLENT THINGS during my life. Some of the stuff I would rather not say on here but yeah it hurts me when I think about it. Also I am gay and people don't know I am gay and that hurts me a lot because my parents would hate me. I feel screwed, I can't seem to get a BF I have tried many times to ask guys on myspace and DATING web sites I feel like that's maybe I way I can leave my abusive dad and stuff but so far I guess people think I am ugly. I don't know what to do should I leave should I go back to school except now I will have to pay for it. Should I just like what should I do? My dad used to talk about shooing people he's so unpleasant to live with....

Say you are on a first date and right in the middle of dinner your best friend calls and says they need you to bail him/her out of jail.

Survey:
What do you do?

1. Finish dinner, desert, and the entire date.

2. Apologize to your date and rush to the nearest bail bondsmen.

3. Say "you must have the wrong number. Nobody by that name here".

4. Tell him to call his mommy.

5. Bail him out but insist he become your servant for 3 months.

6. Let him rot in jail, since he must be a criminal, otherwise he wouldn't be in jail.

Ok I've been quite interested in this for a while and have a few questions still......How many courses(and what kind) ect do you have to take before you can become one..(I do know you also have to go through the Dept of Insurance as well)....How long do these things take?.....And beside from the money you spend on the courses ect, as long as you're not working for yourself "professionally" do you ever have have to put forth your own money?
And finally how much does one normally make in this career??
any other info you have would be great as well

I work as a temporary bail bond agent in the state of Florida. In order to become permanent agent I have to go through 1 year apprenticeship under a bail agent. My boss is going to have me sign a non-compete form in order to prevent me from quitting after my year is up and opening my own business.
I want to know, can this form really prevent me from quitting after I get my license and opening my own business in the same county? Or is this form really just meant to erase the thought about me opening my own business. I have worked for 2 other bondsman, so he wouldnt have taught me everything about the business. Also, how long are they effective, if it can be used against me.
I also have spent my first 6 months at the other 2 bonding agencies, so I only have another 6 months left of apprenticeship at this one.

Please tell me or give links to websites to get more information.

I work as a bail bondsman in the state of florida. Unfortunatley we are over regulated down here. We are not allowed to wear a badge even if all it says is "surety agent" I normally wouldnt have a problem with it, but when going into bad neighborhoods, which I ended up doing recently, it seems to keep you out of trouble with the locals. My partner carries one, as he didn't seem to know he couldnt and has had it in the open when talking to officers.
I have asked my boss, and she says that although we arent allowed to by florida statute most bondsman wear them when making an arrest in the ghetto because it deffinatley helps us from getting shot at, so we dont look like just some white guy chasing a black guy through the ghetto ( You can see how that can become a problem).
Do you think law enforement would really arrest someone for doing something like this with in a bad neighborhood even if the badge says surety agent. Would it be a fine or a prison term?
Are there better ways to identify oneself as a bail bondsman?

I can tell you this, florida surety statutes really suck..
Ok, I spoke with my boss and am wondering what you think on this. She says that the badge can still be used as long as it says surety agent, and what that statute means is that if you use the badge and go around saying you are a cop THAN you will get in trouble. It doesnt state anything in the statutes on a badge, even security gaurds were them. Any thoughts on her words?

I am a temporary bail bond agent working in the state of florida. Obviosly I know the higher the risk, the bigger the bond, the more you get paid. What I would like to know is if you are a bail bondsman, how much do you make a year, or how much you have heard bail bondsman make. This is just curiosity, since even my boss doesnt sound like he is going to be paying me much when I do become a permanent bail bond agent.

Thank you in advance as I greatly appreciate all your help. Happy New Years! :-)
