Right now I can drop a course with a grade of "W" until October 30, beyond that there's a point of no return. I'm taking physics, biology, Composition 2, and a few other classes. It's my sophomore year and i've already done some tough stuff (got a B in Gen Chem 1 & 2) but PHYSICS is just incredibly counter intuitive for me; unfortunately it's a requirement for my future career (veterinarian); Here's what I want to do; get a Withdrawal for "Meat Science" [another class i'm taking' which is quite involved, involves mass memorization, ect... and really conflicts with Physics/Biology]; Understand this would be the only "W" I'd ever allow myself to get; and the only reason I'd want it would be to allow my mental resources to be devoted to Physics, and courses that apply to my major, (Meat Science sounded sort of related to becoming a veterinarian; but I find it unbearably dry to boot); Under this circumstance, and if for example the veterinarian admissions board questioned me on my "W" would I have a good excuse? Should I get a withdrawal for meat science?

What requirements/education would one need to become a veterinarian in NC? Are there special schools or would a regular university be all right?
A 4 yr degree, Masters or PHD?
How much residency training would they need?

Recently, I've thought more about becoming a veterinarian. I'm a senior in high school and I've decided that I don't want to stress myself out and my parents by going to prestigious 4 year schools and not know what I'm doing. Is it a bad idea to start at a junior college and take some courses and see that veterinary medicine is right for me and transfer to a state school for the rest of the bachelor degree or should I figure out right now what I want? I'm pretty good at science courses, I'm in AP Chemistry right now and I enjoyed Biology. If anyone could help me, that would be much appreciated. By the way, I live in California and I do realize how hard it is to become a veterinarian in the United States already. I'm not sure if any rules are changed or requirements met by me just living in CA, so let me know. Thank you in advance.

I am currently a sophomore in college getting my associates degree to become a veterinary technician. After I complete the requirements and start working as a vet tech, I am furthering my education at OSU to either get a Bachelors degree or a Masters.

BESIDES a veterinarian (too much school!) I'd like to know of other majors/careers dealing with animals. If you have any experience in a career with animals, or just know about majors and jobs that associate with animals, please please share! Thank you!

And also please, let me know what are the classes that I should take.
Give me all the information you want :]. Thanks

Hello, my name is ___________. I am 19 years old and in my sophomore year here at ______. This is my first online class and I hope it will leave me better enlightened. I am gathering as many units and requirements as I can to graduate and to further help me gain access to my dream career. I want to become a veterinarian and hopefully own my own practice; nothing beats working for yourself. Of course, dreams require great effort if it is to be made into reality. I will then leave you with a quote from Friedrich Neitzsche, "The higher we soar, the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly."

Correct the grammar and all, please it is my introduction.

ok im about to graduate high school and im aiming for a 4-year university BUT incase i dont get in any of the schools i want to (cuz right now i dont exactly meet all the requirements cuz of my low test scores and all that) i was thinking of considering Wester Career College, but how long would it take to finish the vet tech program???
i want to know cuz i want to have a 2nd plan, and i wa thinking that if i t doesnt take that much time i can go to the College (the one in sacramento) and that way i have some experience and then continue my education as in becoming a Veterinarian and go to Vet School at UC Davis

you see i want to start working in earning money as well to pay for Vet school cuz its expensive and even though i know theres loans and scholarships and all that i want to have some money incase of anything

so yeah, the website of western career college doesnt give me much info so does anyone know how long it takes??

If you want to be an equine vet or only treat specific types of animals, to become a veterinarian, are you still required to learn about all the animals in vet school?

I'm thinking of getting my GED next year and going straight to college. There's only one problem, though: I don't know if I can be a veterinarian with only a GED. I've searched every where and I've come up short on answers to that question. No one knows for a fact whether it is/isn't possible. I'm running out of options and I really need to know the full details on requirements to be a vet. I mean, do you have to attend a four-year college? Do you have to have a high school diploma? What high school and college courses should I focus on? I know science, communication, and math. But what branches of these? Can someone please help me by answering these questions? My parents are skeptical and I need these questions answered to prove to them that's an intelligent career advancement move. Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer any of these questions. =)

I just finished up my Sophomore year in high school and am wanting to know the requirements and steps needed to become a veterinarian?

I need to interview a veterinarian (either online or in person) for a college English essay. Since I don't have too much time on my hands I was wondering if any veterinarian could read this and respond with their email address so I can contact them. I would prefer for you to answer the questions via e-mail so that I can have proof of the interview. Thanks so much

Here is the list of questions:

*What made you decide to become a vet?
*How much school is required to be a vet?
*What are the requirements for getting into vet school?
*What's the best part of being a vet?
*What's the worst part?
*What are related careers?
*On average how much to vets make a year?
*What advice would you give someone thinking of becoming a vet?
*How do you handle having to put pets down? Doesn't it break your heart? Do you have to become a little callous to do those things?
*What do you do if you suspect an animal has been abused?

I am currently a Freshman at the University of Kansas and am trying to decide whether I want to become a Doctor or a Veterinarian. Would it be possible to major in biology (take the pre-med curriculum) then decide which path I want to take?

I was also thinking about taking both the MCAT and the GRE (graduate requirement exam for vet school), then see how I do on each. Would this be a good idea?

Thanks for all your help!

Please tell me the subjects do i need to study well.Example: Trigonometry. Please also tell me the requirements

I really need a veterinarian or vet technician or any other person that works with animals to answer my questions. It's due tomorrow and I regret not completing this assignment. PLEASE HELP!

Could you also add your occupation either your vet or vet technician. Your name (preferably your surname or first name if you choose)

How much school is required to be a vet?
What are the requirements for getting into vet school?

What's the worst part?
What are related careers?

My goal is to contact someone out of my state. Since I live in Hawaii county, and plan to take classes in perhaps California or in other parts of the mainland, I want to know their opinions since it may be different. Makes any sense?
Please! Help. This is an INTERVIEW. I'm not a veterinarian and I want to be one someday. I think it's pretyy rude that someone would even dare to reject my interview. Isn't an interview something that the interviewee is supposed to learn from? Gosh.
Thanks, but I can't use somebody's outdated interview. It just isn't right. It isn't honest either. It just won't do...
Look as much as I'd like to explain this further with you guys, I have a another whole bunch of assignments. We can't all be perfect and organized and have everything done..

I know most of the interview questions myself, but I can't do that. I can google as much as I want, research as much as I want, but I need an official veterinarian to prove these answers.

The interview is required there's nothing much I can say to that.
You know what I pretty much don't care anymore. Along with other high school activities and assignments, along with family situations, I'm just going to try and meet ends. I'm going to turn in the interview late, I already have a backplan in mind.

Thanks for the help. For those who actually helped. FYI not all questions are actually going to be used. It was just a loose outline for my real interview if you would like to see for yourself by request. I can arrange that.
My backplan is contacting the closest animal clinic/hospital nearby and calling them instead

I want to become a veterinarian. I've seen the class requirements for the pre-vet stuff, so can I just take those classes online? I feel like it'd be easier.

I got my BA degrees in Health Admin. & Policy about a year ago and for awhile now I've been looking into applying to grad school so that I can make a career with helping animals. What is the best path? I don't know if I can make it into the Vet program because my GPA is exactly the Vets schools minimum requirement and I hear it is extremely competitive, but is there anyway I can still help myself into getting into the program?

At present I'm a high school senior who will be attending a high quality state institution of higher education in the fall of 2009. I'm planning to pursue a B.S. (and possibly a M.S. through a 5 year program) in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. I'm a bit at a loss for ideas of actual careers that I might discover with this type of degree, but one idea I've had is that of a wildlife veterinarian or veterinarian specializing in zoological medicine. I love animals, especially wild animals, and their ecology. I have always been fascinated by natural history and elements of environmental science, and feel that these traits along with the desire for a well paying career would make a wildlife vet. a good choice. However it must be noted that I've never been big on anatomy (particularity human, though my experiences with animal dissection in H.S. Freshman Biology were not especially positive), I'm not "into" micro or cellular biology, I dislike chemistry based on my previous experiences in that science, nor can I cut in a straight line. Therefore, is this career field even worth my consideration, or should I simply toss it aside as something I would find VERY challenging and not enjoy? Is it likely that some of my prejudices against some of the core elements of Vet. science will change upon entering college? And finally is obtaining a degree in wildlife at face value (meaning taking the courses that interest me that will meet requirements) a better route then pursuing the pre-vet program with my final goal in mind?

I've always wanted to be a vet, I have the grades for it, I love Science and Math, and I would LOVE to work with Mammals such as seals, dolphins, whales, etc...

I'm writing a paper on it for my Modern Media class and needed a few questions answered.

I'm looking for websites that have information on becoming a marine mammal vet, I need to know salary, school requirements, colleges, etc.... Also things like where it's best to live (obviously near the ocean, but like FLorida, California etc...

Thanks for the help, the more websites about it the better chance of getting best answer, I need citations.

Hey all, Well here's the thing. I'm interested in getting a degree in biology so I can work as a wildlife biologist or as my dream job in a zoo- we'll see what happens! I'm going to have to move away for that though, which is fine, but as I get older I'd like to move back home again and the job prospects for a veterinarian are much more favorable. If I was to get my degree in biology to fulfill the requirements for the wildlife biologist/zoo job, would it be that hard to go back to school to be a veterinarian or is that a WHOLE other curriculum? I was hoping that I could return to college for a year or two and receive a D.V.M, but I really haven't a clue and would like some input. Thank you!

I have a few questions. I've wanted to become a Veterinarian since I was about 10. I've always loved animals and I know that if I was a Vet, it would never be just a job to me. I am 19 years old and just finished my homeschooling studies and received my GED. I know all of the steps to becoming a vet and I know how competitive it is to get into vet school. My question is, could I go to a community college for two years, get my Associateas degree (Maybe as a Vet Tech, or should I just do general studies?) and then transfer to a four year university? Iam not sure how many requirement classes there are in the pre-vet program, so I donat know if I would be able to fulfill them all in my junior and senior year at a university. I have been working and volunteering with animals since I was 16. I absolutely love animals and know that this is what I want to do. Any advice would be so helpful. Thanks!

also what is the pay per year and any other info about it would be awsome!
thanx

My passion is working with animals, but i cant gamble 4 years of my life and not get in...also considering respiratory therapy...big difference...opinions?

I know for a fact i wanna be a vet, but i dont know ALL the requirements for it. any answers will help thanks!!

I would like to become an exotic veterinarian, like one who works at the zoo part time and one who works at a practice for people's pets part time. What school would I need to go to, and what course requirements would I need? I know that it would be insane to try to work on a large number of animals at the zoo, but like...say I specialized in big cats, at the zoo, what would I need? And if I worked with sugar gliders, ferrets, rats, etc...in the seperate practice. Is there a seperate veterinary school, or simply seperate course requirements?
